REMEMBERING PROF. S. LANE FAISON '29
"Williams has lost one of its most favorite sons with the passing this
afternoon of S. Lane Faison '29. To merely call him Amos Lawrence Professor of
Art, Emeritus, would be to greatly understate his significance..."
So begins President Morty Schapiro's November 11 letter to the Williams campus
community. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 16, at 2:00 pm in
Thompson Memorial Chapel, with a reception to follow at the Williams College
Museum of Art.

The Chicago Sun Times offers the following story of efforts by Oren Pollock
'49, fellow Chicago-area Williams alumni, and alumni of other colleges and
universities to forge long-term relationships to improve education for city
