NEW TAILGATING POLICY

Fans can no longer bring their own alcohol to Williams home football games. Beer and wine will be available on Weston Field for purchase by anyone of legal drinking age. Fans may bring their own non-alcoholic beverages in sealed plastic bottles, but NOT in cans or glass bottles.

WILLIAMS FALL LECTURE SERIES CONTINUES

The College’s series of talks and debates continues through the fall semester. Please put these on your calendar and watch for updates on some times and places:

Angela Maria Arboleda of the National Council of La Raza and fellow panelists Juan Cartagena and Larry Gonzalez will discuss Latino voting rights on Tuesday, October 26 at 4:15 p.m. Brooks-Rogers.

Jeb S. Magruder ’58 will present “Watergate and Nixon: Personal Reflections” on Wednesday, December 1 at 8 p.m. (Location to be announced)

LEADERSHIP STUDIES SERIES IN AMERICAN ELECTIONS

CAMACHO AND VARGAS NAMED GAIUS CHARLES BOLIN FELLOWS

Julie M. Schiavone Camacho and Armando Vargas have been awarded Gaius Charles Bolin Dissertation fellowships for 2004-05. The fellowships are named in honor of Williams’ first black graduate, who was admitted to the College in 1885.

MELLON POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWS APPOINTED

NOVELIST ANDREA BARRETT JOINS WILLIAMS FACULTY

Andrea Barrett, winner of the National Book Award and author of five novels and two short- story collections, most recently “Servants of the Map” (2002), has been appointed lecturer in English.

COMPOSER KECHLEY SCORES TWO WINS

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) has handed its annual award to David Kechley, Williams College professor of music and chair of the department. COLLEGE PROMOTES NINE TO RANK OF FULL PROFESSOR

The College has announced the promotion of nine faculty members to the rank of full professor. They are Alison Case, English; Cathy Johnson, political science; John Kleiner, English; Michael J.
