MAKING IT NEW: THE ART AND STYLE OF SARA AND GERALD MURPHY
Opened at the Williams College Museum of Art July 8, this exhibit--the first to explore the pivotal contribution of Gerald and Sara Murphy to 20th century arts and letters--also explores the circle of artistic and literary moderns that flourished around them in Paris and the Riviera in the 1920s and 1930s.

SUMMER THEATRE LAB
A dream of Kevin O'Rourke ’78 and Williams College Theatre Department chair Rob Baker-White ’80, the Summer Theatre Lab is an eight-week workshop that allows undergraduates to delve into the theater with the help of Williams alumni who already have successful performing arts careers.

FLETCHER FELLOWSHIP TO PROF. JAMES
Joy A. James, the John B. and John T. McCoy Presidential Professor of Africana Studies and College Professor in Political Science, has been awarded the prestigious Alphonse Fletcher, Sr., Fellowship. The fellowship honors those whose research, art, or writing seeks to reform and rectify race relations.

NSF BACKS PROF. FREUND’S WORK ON SOFTWARE ERRORS
Stephen Freund, assistant professor of computer science, has been awarded a five-year, $400,000 CAREER grant from the National Science Foundation to research "Hybrid Atomicity Checking," a method of searching for bugs in software systems.

NEVER TOO EARLY TO THINK SNOW
Plans are underway for the fourth Alumni Ski Week in fantastic Sun Valley, Idaho, from March 15-22, 2008. This trip always draws alumni, family, and friends of all ages and abilities and once again includes free skiing and lodging for kids.  New for 2008 will be a "Williams Roadscholars in the Rockies" program with guest faculty lectures and discussions. COLLEGE ADVISING AVAILABLE FOR CHILDREN OF ALUMNI
From June 4 through November 2, 2007, sons and daughters of alumni who have completed their high school junior year or are now high school seniors may meet with a senior admission officer for an early evaluation of their credentials. To schedule, your child should call the Office of Admission at 413-597-2214. IMPORTANT: Be sure to identify yourself as an alumni daughter or son. When you visit Williams, bring a copy of your most recent (unofficial) transcript and any test scores. If you visit while the college is in session, plan to join a campus tour, attend a group information session, and attend classes.
