NEW DIRECTOR OF WCMA NAMED

After a national search, the College has announced that Lisa Corrin, deputy director at the Seattle Art Museum, will become director of the College Museum this fall.

JESSICA LOVAAS WINS TRUMAN SCHOLARSHIP FOR GRADUATE STUDY

Williams junior Jessica Lovaas has been named a Truman Scholar for 2005. The political science major, one of 75 students selected from more than 600 candidates, hopes to pursue dual master’s degrees in international affairs and political science.

SENIOR ART SHOW ON VIEW THROUGH JUNE 5th

The College’s Senior Students’ Art Exhibition is an annual event that represents the culmination of each student’s work. This year’s show, "Die Ganze Chose," will be on view at WCMA through June 5.

STUDENT CAMPAIGN PURSUING POLITICAL ACTION IN SUDAN

The Sudan Divestment Campaign, a Williams students-based organization, is working with college students, activists, educators, and politicians to bring attention to the suffering of the people of Darfur by pressing for divestment legislation.

PROF. LAYLAH ALI, DEAN MOSS COLLABORATE IN NYC ARTWORK

The performance art piece "figures on a field," a collaboration between assistant professor of art Laylah Ali ‘90 and choreographer Dean Moss, ran at The Kitchen in New York in early May.

ARTICLE IN "NATURE" CAPTURE’S WORLD’S FASTEST PLANT

Washington Gladden 1859 Professor of Biology Joan Edwards and assistant professor of physics Dwight Whitaker are co-authors, with Marta Laskowski of Oberlin and Sarah Klionsky ’03, of a recent article in the British science journal, "Nature."

SOCIETY OF ALUMNI CONSTITUTION UPDATED

At its mid-year meeting in January, the Executive Committee of the Society of Alumni voted to propose a series of amendments to the Constitution of the Society. The amendments are designed to update the document (last amended in June 1979) and to address a variety of substantive matters.
