Cut, Suture, Close:
Behind the Scenes of "Grey's Anatomy"
In this 2009 Reunion lecture, film editor Susan Vaill '94 takes us through the process of making an episode of a hit TV show. Since she made this presentation last June, Susan's cut another season of Grey's, directed three webisodes for Grey's Anatomy on abc.com and is about to edit the pilot to a new series called "Huge," written by Winnie Holzman, the creator of "My So-Called Life."
Sustaining Another "A"

A new study grades sustainability reporting by the nation's 50 leading liberal arts colleges: Guess who's on top?. And in its second experimental year shutting the campus over winter break, Williams saved $100,000 in utility costs and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 528 metric tonnes--2.7% of the College's annual emissions and a 26% improvement over last year. Read the report.

Williams College Museum of Art Warms Up For Spring

Chinese art, drawing in 18th and 19th century France and Tristin Lowe’s 50-foot long, 10-foot high sculpture of a ghostly white sperm whale are but part of what the Williams College Museum of Art is offering this coming season. More at the museum's website.
Financial Aid for International Students
"[Williams'] cost of international aid in the last decade rose by more than 200% (more than $4 million). In the College’s changed financial situation, that rate of growth is unsustainable. One way to reduce it would be to have fewer international students. But no one wants that, and no one wants it to be the case that all of our international students are able to pay the full fee. The way to avoid either of those outcomes is to use intelligently some form of need-awareness for international applicants. Set a rough annual target for international financial aid that will enable the admission office to admit a diverse group of students while controlling financial aid growth..."
