NEW SCHOLARSHIPS HONOR SEPTEMBER 11TH VICTIMS
Williams scholarships have been established by the families
of Lindsay S. Morehouse '00 and Brian J. Murphy '80, both of whom died in the
2001 terrorist attack on
New York.
Morehouse, a research assistant at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, was the daughter of Kathy Maycen and Ted
Morehouse. Murphy was a vice president at Cantor Fitzgerald. He is survived by
his wife, Judith Bram Murphy, and daughters Jessica and Leila. If you would like to contribute to either
scholarship, please e-mail donor.relations@williams.edu.
TRACKING A TREK IN THE CANADIAN
ARCTIC
Eric Dayton '03 is taking his already extensive trekking
experience in the
Yukon,
Nepal
,
and
Alaska a
giant step further as a member of the Arctic Transect 2004 team, which began
their seven-month, 3,000-mile long journey on December 17. Organized by NOMADS
Online Classroom Expeditions, the six-member team will maintain ongoing contact
with as many as three million students around the world via their Web site. In
addition to teaching students about arctic climate changes--and how those
changes affect native populations--the team will also carry out scientific work
for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The team's photo-journal
and videos will be updated weekly, allowing students to watch their progress.

Having publicly launched with $160 million in advance gifts,
The Williams Campaign now stands at more than $168 million toward its five-year

gifts play a critical role in the campaign, the Alumni Fund timeline has been
modified. For alumni in non-reunion classes, the Alumni Fund now runs from
Oct.1-Feb. 28. For alumni celebrating reunions, the end date has been extended
to May 15th to integrate the Alumni Fund with the 25th and 50th fundraising
programs. Questions? E-mail annual.giving@williams.edu

WILLIAMS VS.
OKLAHOMA?
Ivan Maisel writing on ESPN.com,
January 5, "suggests" that Williams is trying to line up a game with
Oklahoma next September. Maisel seems to think that Heisman Trophy winner Jason White of
Oklahoma
might have an aversion to purple and Williams being the Purple Cows... well,
you can read all about it by surfing over to http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/bowls03/columns/story?columnist=maisel_ivan&id=1698478.
